Jalyn’s Top Ten Trends for Fall 2015

  1. Wide legged pants

The wide legged pant is an exaggeration of the flared pant and a variant of the culotte. Relaxed in shape, the pants can be casual as well as elegant, cropped as well as long, drapey as well as structured. A fitted top balances out the wide legged pants’ extended proportions.

2. Bordeaux

Bordeaux, AKA merlot, wine, burgundy, deep red is the color of the season, along with bright reds, and can be found in all fabrics including lace and leather.  A great accent color in shoes and bags.

3. Suede

Suede, a favorite fabric for fall, demonstrates its versatility in patchwork designs, boots, handbags, trench coats, and capes. It spans the decades, from retro to modern, but still seems fresh.

4. Neo Victorian

High neck feminine blouses, moody dark lace, the innocence of white, and a profusion of ruffles, all drew inspiration from the Victorian era, but with a modern spin.

Nostalgia for the ‘70s inspired a Bohemian trend, with rich patterns and textures in floral flowing dresses, lace up boots, and shaggy vests.

6. Saddle Bag

The resurrection of the equestrian saddle bag from the ‘70s makes it the  IT bag for fall. Some saddle bags sport fun details, like fringe, tassels, and weaving.

7. Tapestry Prints

Tapestry prints in an explosion of intricate patterns and embellishments lend a richness and opulence to garments.

8. Capes and Ponchos

Capes and ponchos are not only great for layering but can also become a dramatic focal point of an outfit. With midi skirts and mini skirts, over denim or leather leggings, they prove a worthy addition to a fall wardrobe.

The Stacked Heel provides a solid foundation for this season’s wide legged pants, and midi and maxi skirts.

10. Fuzzy coats

Faux fur fuzzy coats prove that you can be warm and still have some fun with the teddy bear look. While the runways featured real fur, faux interpretations abound.
